It’s been more than year since team geno has fielded a car in the Pro Autosports Formula group. During that time the Swift Formula Ford has been sold and a new Formula First has been in the works. The decision to make the move to Formula First was easy; highly competitive, robust cars that are less expensive to campaign than Formula Fords. “Inexpensive Racing” is an oxymoron….. I don’t believe there are any inexpensive forms of racing but there are forms of racing that have a very high fun to expense ratio; Formula First offers a great fun to expense ratio.
The decision became to buy or build…….. Formula First is a builders class, however after examining my welding skills at the time I decided that I would prefer not to ride in something that I built while I was learning to weld (survival instinct kicked in). I decided to buy a roller, and build the rest of the car of the car through the Kochert racing Group (KRG) shop. The chassis is the latest Terry Murray design; the FK2. KRG spec’d the engine and it was built by Ron Grider. The header system was designed and built by Roxannes. Most of the components have arrived and the true build will begin this weekend. Next up: Build pictures, on-going progress updates and some of the history of KRG.
cheers, geno

Hi Geno, welcome to our group, we look forward to competing with you!!! Sounds like the FK2 is going to be a great car!!
Your car will have some interesting differences in the cooling system, I’ll let you expalin that in more detail ( i don’t want to give away any secrets), but I am very curious to see how it will work out in this heat.
As you know I have been pushing for more competition since I joined this group, And finally we are starting to grow. Greg has come along way since he joined and is finally getting his car the way it should be, he is a very consistant and an excellent driver, John Piggot has had limited track time in his Vee and has not yet run his First, but from what I have seen, He will be serious competition as well! Terry is working on his next first, hopefully he will have it ready by the beginning of next season, I am very much looking forward to what he brings to the track, no doubt he will be tough to beat! Mauricio has struggled this year with car problems, I hope he gets things straightend out and brings his A game to the track. Joe……who knows, his car is close to ready, but he has been so busy with business and family that he hasn’t had the time to work on it, hopefully that will change and we will see him out there as well, Joe is very competetive and one of my favorite rivals! And then there is Tim, one of the most laid back guys you will ever meet…until he gets into his car, then he turns into one of the most competetive drivers I have ever come up against!!! He is a hardcore racer, But despite his aggressive nature, he always drives clean (well, most of the time
). I have had the best time racing Tim these past few months and we look forward to getting the rest of the group out there with us as well!!!
2010 should be the best year yet for the FormulaFirstRacing group of AZ.
Again, Geno, it’s great to hear about the progress of your car, we are looking forward to seeing you on the track. In the meantime, please post some photos.
Also, I am sure everyone wants to know what “FK2″ stands for, and who owns the FK1.

The KRG shop was busy this weekend continuing the build of the team geno Formula First. The work this weekend focused on the dash design and installation as well as locating the radio system. Headers are now done and have shipped from Roxannes and the SR hydraulics will ship later this week so the build process will continue to pick up pace over the next few weeks. Quite a few pictures of the build were taken and will be posted this week.
Big thanks to John, Robbie and CK for all of the help this weekend……
cheers, geno
